Park City Ski Trip Packing List (and What's Already at the House)

Our Place in Park City • November 3, 2026

Pack less and ski more.

Packing for a ski trip can feel like packing for a small expedition. Boots, layers, goggles, gloves, and that is before anyone remembers a toothbrush. The good news is that a lot of what makes a ski week comfortable is already at our townhouse. Here is what to bring, what you can leave at home, and a few local tips that make the first morning on the mountain go smoothly.

1. What to bring for the mountain

  • Base layers: two sets per person, wool or synthetic. Skip cotton, which stays wet and cold.
  • Mid layer: a fleece or light puffy for cold mornings on the lift.
  • Shell jacket and ski pants: waterproof is best for storm days.
  • Helmet and goggles: bring a low-light lens for snowy days if you have one.
  • Gloves or mittens, neck gaiter and ski socks: one pair of socks per ski day is a nice luxury.
  • Sunscreen and lip balm: Park City sits at about 7,000 feet, and the sun off the snow is strong, even in January.
  • Your lift passes or rental confirmations: booking rentals and passes ahead online usually saves money and time.

2. What's already at the house

We set the house up for ski weeks, so you can leave some of the bulky stuff at home.

  • Heated garage: load the car out of the cold, and no scraping ice off the windshield in the morning.
  • Boot dryer: boots and gloves go on the dryer at night and come off warm and dry for the next day.
  • Mudroom with ski storage: a bench, shelves and hooks keep wet gear out of the living space.
  • Frette linens and towels: no need to pack bedding or bath towels.
  • Full kitchen: cook breakfast before first chair and pack lunches if you like.
  • TV in every bedroom and an Xbox for the kids after a long ski day.

3. Pack lighter with the laundry room

The house has a full-size washer and dryer, so you do not need a fresh outfit for every day of a week-long trip. Pack for three or four days, run a load mid-week, and you will have more room in the suitcase for souvenirs, or for skipping the checked bag fee altogether.

4. Getting here and getting around

Salt Lake City airport is about 30 minutes from the house in good conditions. We recommend a car, ideally one with all-wheel drive or good winter tires, since storms can roll in fast. From Pinebrook, Canyons Village is about 10 minutes away and downtown Park City is about 15. Our Park City things to do guide has ski resort drive times and more ideas for your week.
